Passed away November 13, 2017, at the age of 93. Luther was born on August 13, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho to Hilton and Elizabeth Howell Morris and was the youngest of six children. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lorna Burke Morris, his six children: Diana (Jim), Jeffrey (Amy), Eric (Ruth), Aaron, Esther (Mike) and Melanie (Kevin); 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. During World War II at 18 years old, Luther enlisted in the United States Army/Air Corp, serving from March 1, 1943 to October 29, 1945, at which time he was a Master Sergeant. During his time in the Army/Air Corp, he served in China, Burma and India with many stories about flying over the “Hump” in the Himalayan Mountains and driving over the famous Burma Road in China and India. After his discharge, he attended college at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, from which he graduated in 1949 with a degree in Education. Luther later received a Masters Degree from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley Colorado. In 1950, while teaching school in Idaho Falls, Idaho, he met the girl of his dreams, Lorna Burke. Luther proposed to Lorna on her 18th birthday and they were married August 1, 1951 in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple. Luther had a love of teaching and retired in 1989 from A M Winn Elementary School, having taught for 40 years. His life will be celebrated on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 12:00PM noon at the LDS Church (2400 Cordova Lane, Rancho Cordova, CA). Interment will follow at the Fair Oaks Cemetery.
