I want to offer my sincere condolences to the family.

Although I had not spoken to Mike since we were in junior high, I still clearly remember his friendliness and his sense of calm self-assurance, traits very remarkable for someone at that age. I am certain that a great many people are better for having known him. Thank you, Mike.

Seems like yesterday, but Mike, I haven't seen you in 42 years. Yes, 1975 was our year ...... our year to leave behind many La Sierra Longhorn memories. Bigger than life, you were La Sierra ........ in body, mind and spirit.
You defined our class ....... and your fellow graduates had better feel very fortunate and grateful for this. You see, what came so naturally for you, the rest of us struggled mightily to achieve. How does one learn to be competitive yet compassionate? How does one learn to be firm yet fair? How does one learn to ooze confidence yet remain a humble human being. How does one learn to just be good!?
Mike, you were the master of mutual respect. You were friends with all, well, as long as they said and did the right thing. This brings a classic "Mike moment" to mind ........... senior year, apparently some older big dude had a beef with you. At lunchtime, he came on campus looking for you. You agreed to meet him out front to "discuss" his grievance. When the moment arrived to spar, you graciously gave him the option to bow out. His pride was at stake, so he declined. Your one-two punch put this guy down pronto. Like a true sportsman gentleman, you put out your hand and helped pull this guy up off the ground. You shook his hand and wished him well. He staggered away dumbfounded. What a classic!
I have shared that story many times over the years. One of my favorites. It defines the man. A fair man ........ a good man. Oh, and a funny man. Freshman year, your sense of humor kept me awake during Mr. Sheedy's German class.
Like I mentioned, Mike, it's been 42 years, but this really hurts. There's something missing now. You were a link to the past ....... to the good ol' days. You will always be 18 in my mind. And you know you're someone special when you are able to make such an impression on people at such a young age. What a guy! God bless you!

Mike and I worked together at Campbell Soup for many years both in operations and the warehouse. There were good times and tough times but we made it. I recently had lunch with him and three others with a lot of laughs and remenising which I am now grateful for. For those who know no golf shoes required!
