I’m very sorry for your family’s loss. Dr Ashby was my and my husband’s family doctor for nearly 8 years. He was the best doctor I ever had, and when he semi-retired, I was so sad to lose him. He was one of the good ones and I’m so sad to hear of his passing. I am so thankful that I was able to know him.

Always funny and inspiring. I have fond memories of many family reunions with the three Ashby boys as Emcee. Lake Powell trips were fun with Richard. Wonderful man, real and genuine.

My deepest condolences to the family. I was sad to hear of Dr. Ashby's passing. He will be dearly missed by all. I was fortunate to have worked for him at VCMC. His sense of humor, and compassionate heart, are dearly remembered. I hope all those wonderful memories, great love he had for all of you, and the remembrance of the extraordinary life he lived, comfort you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

With Love,
Patricia

For my part the past, the present and the future is in a peculiar way present in my mind in a connected way as a whole.

When Lone and I celebrated our 50 year marriage last year with an unforgettable party I felt the presence - or the interest- from our family - that had passed away - in a "nearness" almost as time was no more.

I met Richard for the first time in Los Angeles in 1960, when I was 15 years old. In the following years we were occasionally together on my and Lone's trips to the USA. Even though we most of the time were geographically apart we always felt a closeness to Richard, Pam and our whole US family.

However what I remembered mostly from our visits was our frequently chess games - Richard and I had. I think I never won any game at all - or maybe one or two times due to his friendly hart.

Even though we are apart from our deceased friends and family member, a timeless and nearness is still prevailing which makes it easier for us to cope with the nature of life.

Having said that, Richard will be missed by us all and please accept our deepest condolences and may you all find peace and comfort in your heart.

Doc Ashby was my PCP a few years ago. He was by far the best doc I ever had. His compassion and understanding was the best. We had many talks about his son Nathan. Doc left Kaiser and I eventually met Nathan. Nathan, please accept my thoughts and prayers for your family. Your Dad touched my B heart in many ways.

Pam and family. I am so saddened to hear of Richard's passing. I am holding all of you in my heart and in my prayers. I had the good fortune of having Richard as my boss for many years in Ventura, for being a friend to Pam, and watching some of the children grow up. These were years I treasured. Yes, Richard was an amazing man and doctor. He loved his family so very much. I know all of you will miss him greatly. My deepest sympathy.
