Born October 28, 1923 in Logan, West Virginia to William C. and Lulu Louise Jenkins. Died May 24, 2017. Served in the U.S. Navy during world-war 2, worked 35 years for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company and was working at Bell Telephone Laboratories when Telstar, the world's first active communication satellite was launched. He was long affiliated with the Arcade Baptist Church. He married Jean F. Williams July 7, 1946, married 62 years at her death. Survived by sons Daryl and David (Jeanette), grand-children Andrew (Trish) Jenkins, Vanessa (Cmdr. Ray) Stromberger, and six great-grand-children: Aaron, Zachary, Sommer, Morgan, Ian and Skylar. Always made friends wherever he lived. He enjoyed bowling and was very active in the California Native Plant Society, specialized in building blue-bird houses. Worked hard at the Thomas Kelly elementary school across from his Carmichael home. Built a "Life Lab" on the school grounds where the children could plant and grow a variety of plants. He was an avid outdoorsman, a superb fly fisherman, and enjoyed backpacking until in his 70's when he could no longer walk the distance. He was a fine husband, father, grandfather, friend.
