Formerly of Carmichael, California, Delores passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 in Suttons Bay, Michigan at the age of 92.  Loving wife of the late Robert (Bob) H. Beekman Jr.  Cherished mother of Robert (Nancy) H. Beekman III and Mary (Bob) Bergen.  Grandmother of Rachel, Sarah, Catherine, Eric and Michael and great grandmother of Audrey, Andrew, Sam, Jay, Elise, Sulema, Colin and Alma.  Sister of the late Donald Smith, Rita Tappan, Harlan Smith and Merwin Smith.  Sister-in-law of Vivian Beekman and Mae Kamilos.  Delores was a Sacramento native, born in the family home on 21st Street.  She lived a full and meaningful life.  At age 18 Delores met Bob at a dance where he announced to her surprise that they would marry.  After a 7-month courtship they did, and their marriage lasted 59 happy years.  Delores and Bob raised two children, spent treasured time with family and friends, traveled the world and actively supported St. Michael’s Church.  Delores fiercely dedicated herself to God and served the faith community for many years and in many ways: as a leader in the lay ministries at St. Michael’s, organizing Bible study groups, bringing prayer to homebound seniors, and tutoring in adult literacy programs. Friends are welcome for visitation Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5-7 PM at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA, 725-2109) and are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1 PM at ST. MICHAEL’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH (2140 Mission Ave., Carmichael, CA).  Private interment will be at Fair Oaks Cemetery (7780 Olive St., Fair Oaks, CA).In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Hospice of Michigan (989 Spaulding Avenue SE, Ada, MI 49301).  They provided incredible care and comfort to Delores, and enabled her to spend her final days with family by her side.
