Dear Beth,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Don's passing. We became good friend in the early 90's by ham radio when I moved to Citrus Heights. When I lost my wife, Betty, to breast cancer in 1997, you and Don showed great compassion to me and my family. Don was an icon during the 90's operating the vhf contests. We all chased him trying to beat his score. He was a great competitor. My love and prayers to you and your family. -Bob WA5YWC, Plano, Texas

I was so saddened to see Don's picture in today's Bee. He was such a nice and decent human being, healthy and active guy who rode his bike to work every day. I feel very lucky to have known Don and worked closely with him at the CEC in the 1970s and our subsequent meetings over the years.
May god bless his spirit in perpetuity. I will always hear his voice and remember his kindness. Our deepest sympathy for all of his family and loved ones.

Don had a great influence on my career and was a real superman of a boss. I M glad he made the most of each day with his commitment to the environment, athlete, and a ham operator plus a very great mentor engineer.
