Fred passed away Dec. 13, 2017. Born in Lodi, CA. March 22, 1930. Fred graduated from Lodi High School and College of the Pacific receiving his Master’s Degree in Music from Sacramento State College (CSUS). He served in the Army during the Korean War. He began his teaching career at Norte Del Rio High School. After twelve years at Norte Del Rio he accepted a position at Sacramento City College and taught Music Theory and the Concert Band until his retirement in 1992. He loved teaching and his students loved and admired him greatly. Fred played trumpet in the Sacramento Symphony, concerts at William Land Park, the California State Fair, marched in many parades, and played his trumpet in bands at the special events for many people in northern and central California. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Georgia and sons Greg and wife Kelly and son Glenn and wife Deborah and grandchildren: Jaycee, Colleen, Garrett, Kyle and Kendal and great grandson Preston. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ella Cooper, son Steven, and three brothers. He was an avid golfer, traveler, gardener and in his younger days he loved to trout fish, bird hunt, and was a member of several gun clubs. During his tour in the Army he earned the award and recognition of expert marksmanship. Donations can be made to the Heart Assoc., Hospice, or your favorite charity. Memorial Service will be Dec. 28, 1:00 pm, at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, 725-2109).
