Gene Moir Obituary

Gene Willis Moir passed away suddenly, but peacefully, in his sleep on December 6, 2018, aged 74.  He was a long-time resident of Fair Oaks.  “Geno” was a loving husband during the “49 wonderful years” of marriage to his sweet “Linnie”, whom he adored.  He is also survived by his cherished children Christie (Collier) Alexander, Greg Moir and Kimberly (Mark) Aussieker, as well as his precious grandchildren Jadyn and Jared Alexander and Makenna and Preston Aussieker.  He also leaves behind his wonderful sister, Jeri “Doey” Powers, and numerous loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.  Gene was born in Glendale, CA on November 12, 1944 to Gerald and Jeanne Moir.  After an adventure-filled childhood, he completed his undergraduate studies in Architecture at the University of Southern California (USC) in 1967.  He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Regional Planning from USC in 1973, as well as an MBA from CSU, Fullerton in 1978.  Gene had many accomplishments throughout his career and always took great pride in his work.  He was a U.S. Naval Officer (active duty 1970-1973) and Reservist from 1973-1993 when he retired as a Commander.  He worked with several transit districts as a Planner and Project Manager in both Orange County and Sacramento.  Gene was a very accomplished landscape designer and installer for over 30 years.  Geno and Linnie completed many projects together…they were a great team!  We will never forget Dad’s passion for “moss rock boulders, Japanese maple trees, colorful flowers, streambeds, and decorative pots.”  “Geno” lived a full life of loving, giving, and laughing, and was cherished by so many.  He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and many “Geno stories”!  He always had a smile and a positive attitude.  We could not have asked for a better husband, father, and grandfather.  Truly,  to know him was to love him.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in his name, to the American Heart Association.  Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10 AM at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd. Citrus Heights).  Interment following at 3PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon (family only due to limited space).
