Ida LaRue Culp, age 78, died on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Roseville, California surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 6, 1939 in Rigby, Idaho to Westley and Ethel (Seipert) Bates. She was the youngest of their six children. At an early age she left Idaho with her family and moved to Northern California. They lived in the Susanville area for about 12 years and then moved to Elverta where she resided for the rest of her life.
LaRue attended Grant Union High School and it was there that she met the love of her life, Bob Culp. They were high school sweethearts and graduated together in 1957. Two years later they were married March 20, 1959. Soon after that they built a beautiful house together in Elverta next to her parents. They have lived there for over 59 years where they raised their six children. Many happy memories were made in this home.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her house was always open to everyone. She was a wonderful homemaker who always had a meal and a hug for anyone that came into her home. She loved riding horses, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, and supporting her husband, children, and grandchildren in any activities they were involved in. She had a lot of fun raising a family and on occasion was even known to go “TP-ing” with her teenaged kids and their friends.
LaRue was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings throughout her life. She served as a Young Women’s president of her ward and very much enjoyed working with the youth.
She truly loved life and cherished each day spreading happiness and joy to all she knew.
LaRue is survived by her husband, Bob, and their children Sandie (Steve), Wes (Barbara), Janna, Rob (Kathryn), Andy (Shawna) and Francene. 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Sister of Monty Bates, Leona Baldwin, Jean Oliver and the late Dorothy McKinnon and Betty Poulsen. Preceded in death by her granddaughter, Desirae Culp and her son in law Steven Lloyd.
