In loving memory of Joan Conyers, who passed away peacefully on May 2, 2017 leaving behind her loving husband John and all her children, grandchildren and friends to be with the Lord, joining her son Curtis and other family. Joan was born to Jake and Helen Mears on January 30, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania. She graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento, and received her nursing education from Highland Nursing School and St. Mary's College. She was a Registered Nurse, working for Mercy hospitals in Sacramento, also Director of Nurses at Hilhaven Convalescent facilities. In her later years proudly volunteering for the American Red Cross, including being onsite for Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005.  She was a long time parishioner (since 1972) of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Rancho Cordova, where she participated in many ministries for the church and started what became the current food program  by preparing bags of food for the priest to give to people in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Joan is survived by her husband John of 62 years; children; Kevin,  Brian, Karen, Carolyn and Chris; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and brother; Jim. Friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3:00-6:00PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary service at 5:00PM all at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, 725-2109) and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00AM at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH (10497 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova, CA).
