After a long illness, in the early morning hours of January 27, 2019, Joyce Eleanor Critchfield went home to be with our Father in Heaven. She was born November 8, 1942 the only child of Celo and Herbert Cone of Painsville, Ohio.
Although Joyce was plagued with medical illinesses, she had a zest for living, a variety of talents, enjoyed people, books, and loved music. She was a graduate of Kent State University and considered one of the top creative teachers in the Mentor School District in Northern Ohio. Joyce joined The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints in 1968 and served in various teaching positions and accompanied church services on piano and organ.
She is survived by her husband Jon, three children Nathan, Rachel and William, and grandchildren Kayela Critchfield, Erin and Jordan Williams, and Sophia and Stanton Critchfield.
At Joyce’s request she has been returned to Ohio and buried in the Shreve Cemetery in Shreve, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 4 p.m., in the Relief Society Room of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3267 Deseret Ave., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
