MaryAnn was born on June 18, 1929, in Esmond, South Dakota, to Otto and Anna (Dicke) Pieper. She grew up in Creston, Nebraska, and was the youngest of six children: three brothers (one set of twins) and twin sisters of whom all are deceased. She was a beautician and owned a successful beauty shop in Creston, but she longed to go and see the world. Like her brothers she joined the Navy and on December 5, 1950 off she went to boot camp entering the WAVES, the women's branch of the United States Naval Reserve. She held the position of Storekeeper Class 3, at the Alameda Naval Air Station, Alameda, CA. She was proud to serve her country and was happy for the opportunity to travel and visit other places. In 1952, she caught the eye of a handsome young sailor returning from Korea, F. Lee Lawrence. He swept her off her feet and after three long months of courtship, they married on November 5, 1952. She adored and loved her family and her family adored and loved her. Her love and strong faith in Jesus Christ was evident in her life and is an incredible gift that she passed on to her family.
She is survived by her husband of more than sixty-five years, F. Lee Lawrence; son Lee (Jeannette) Lawrence; daughter Diana (Ron) Davis; son Dean (Beverly) Lawrence; daughter Susan Lawrence; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
