Matt Evans of Rancho Cordova, California, passed away on June 4, 2017 at the age of 31. Matthew was a native of Sacramento. He is survived by his loving parents Russell and Donna Evans, siblings Ryan (Annie) Evans, Rebekah (Nate) McGaughey, Dianne Dahlberg and Elise Dahlberg, grandparents Donna Evans, Robert Hays, Glenn (Mary) Woolford. Preceded in death by grandmother Mary Hays and grandfather Wendell Evans. Matt was born October 20, 1985 in Sacramento, CA. He came to live with Russell and Donna Evans when he was five years old as a foster child. He was adopted on August 8, 1994. Matt was sealed together with his family in the Salt Lake temple on August 15, 1994. He loved drawing, riding bikes, and creating architectural structures with his Lego blocks. Matt also enjoyed scouting, soccer, and piano lessons as a youth. He achieved the rank of Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Cordova High School in June 2004. Many friends and family remember his easy smile, his love of conversation, and his big bear hugs. Matt served a two year mission from 2005-2007 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Washington, Kennewick mission. When he returned, he joined the US Air Force. Matt met his sweetheart in Little Rock, Arkansas. They were married in the Memphis, Tennessee Temple on July 11, 2009. Sadly, the marriage was short lived. Following his Air Force service, he worked in Qatar in the Middle East as a civilian military truck driver. He returned to California and continued his career driving big rigs and trucks for various companies. Matt will be greatly missed, but we know he is at home with our Savior and with family that have gone on before. Matt’s favorite scripture: “And now…remember, remember it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation…which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.” Helaman 5:12 . Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, June 17, 2017, 10AM at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Rossmoor Ward Chapel (2400 Cordova Lane, Rancho Cordova, CA).
