Roy J. Cardoso passed away suddenly on January 14 at the age of 79 from complications due to cancer. Raised on a fruit ranch in Loomis, CA with his younger brother and sister, he earned a notorious reputation as a student and football player at Placer High School. His affinity for mechanic work and all things technical led to brief sojourns at the California Highway Patrol, Aerojet, and the Department of Water Resources. Ultimately his keen mind and work ethic led to a robust career at CalTrans, where he was a respected manager for over 30 years. A shrewd planner, he retired early and indulged his interest in travel, embarking on several lengthy cruises a year to all corners of the world. His wit, strength, and decency will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, his son, brother and his extended family. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10AM at ST MEL CATHOLIC CHURCH (4745 Pennsylvania Ave, Fair Oaks, CA). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Roy's memory to the Cancer Research Institute.
