Alberto passed away peacefully in Citrus Heights, California on September 28, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Alberto ventured to New York City where he met his wonderful wife, Josefina and married her in 1950. They later decided that they wanted to raise their three children in San Francisco and lived there from 1962 until 1990. While in San Francisco, Alberto worked as a cook at Macy’s and later as a chef at The Emporium and Lyons. He worked hard to ensure that his children had a great education at St. James Grammar School, Immaculate Conception Academy, Riordan, and Sacred Heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a dedicated Catholic, loved people, had a great sense of humor, and always made everyone feel welcome in his home. Alberto was loved by all of his family and everyone he met.
Alberto is survived by his children (Maria, Louis, and William), Linda Rodriguez, who was virtually his second daughter, grandchildren Kelly Gonzalves, Steven Rodriguez (Kelly), great grandchildren, Marissa, Desirae, Dominic, and Alexandria and his sister, Anna, in Puerto Rico.
A memorial mass and services will be held at Calvary Chapel at 10 AM on September 28, 2018, followed by a reception at Maria’s home in Citrus Heights. (Contact Maria for details.) In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
