Alice Willis Obituary

In loving memory of Alice Marie Young Willis, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother from Citrus Heights, CA, who peacefully transitioned from this world on May 16, 2024, at the age of 93. She passed away from natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love.

Born on April 24, 1931, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Alice was the beloved daughter of Stephen Campion and Mattie Klein. She spent her formative years in St. Casimir’s grammar school before graduating with distinction from Humboldt High in 1950. As a member of the National Honor Society, Alice’s academic prowess was evident early on. She pursued her higher education at St. Catherine’s College, where she earned her degree in nursing in September of 1953, a profession she devoted herself to for decades.

Alice lived her life guided by a simple yet profound philosophy: “To work with people to change their lives regardless of circumstances,” a sentiment she expressed in her graduation program. Her career as a nurse was marked by dedication and empathy, touching the lives of countless individuals with her care and kindness, extending well into her 70s.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Alice found immense joy and fulfillment in her roles as a wife and mother. Shortly after graduating, she married Harvey Young. Together, they were blessed with four sons: Mark, Daniel, Steven, and Kenneth. Alice’s devotion to her family was unparalleled, and her love for her children knew no bounds. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting presence of her beloved dogs, whom she adored just as dearly as her boys.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Young, who passed away in 1977, and two of her sons Daniel Young and Kenneth Young, whose memories she cherished dearly. She is survived by Mark and Brenda Young of Marietta, GA, and Steven and Shelley Young of Marysville, CA, who will continue to carry her legacy of love and compassion forward.

Services to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at Holy Family Church, where friends and loved ones will gather to honor her memory. Burial will be at Sylvan Cemetery. Both are in Citrus Heights, CA. In accordance with Alice’s wishes, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the pet shelter of your choice.
As we bid farewell to Alice, we take solace in knowing that her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
