Amanda McKeon Obituary

Amanda Jean McKeon returned to her heavenly home on November 19th, 2022.  She was born on January 24th, 1981, in Mission Hills, California to goodly parents Randy and Ruth Lawrence.  Being the oldest of 6 brothers and 1 sister, James (Kami), Marshall (Whitney), Nicholas (Stephanie), Jessica (Nathan), proceeded in death Samuel (1995-2011), Jack (Eliza) and Timothy, she was a natural big sister and tremendous help to her parents with her siblings.

Amanda graduated from Vasquez High School in 1999.  In her youth she was involved in dance, soccer, cheerleading, and barrel racing but her favorite activities were drama and theatre.  She took part in many productions.  She really enjoyed acting.

Amanda met the love of her life at a baseball game for young adults in Santa Clarita, California.  Monte noticed her and really wanted to know who she was.  He loved her beautiful hair!  Monte was wearing a shirt that said “Heavenly” from Heavenly Ski resort.  Amanda asked him if Heavenly was a place or if he was Heavenly.  They were smitten with each other from the beginning.  Amanda married the love of her life Monte Richard McKeon on June 15th, 2002.  She absolutely adored her husband.  They enjoyed 20 incredible years together.

Amanda and Monte have 5 children.  Melissa, Monte JR, Wyatt, Cody and Weston.  She absolutely loved and cherished every moment of motherhood.  She enjoyed supporting all her children in their different activities.  She especially loved watching them in sporting events and theatre performances.  Her focus was on her children’s well-being, and to help them become confident in fulfilling their potential as individuals and children of God.

Amanda loved making things grow.  She loved being in her garden, planting flowers, plants, trees and vegetables. Her latest creation was a pumpkin patch which grew several this season.  She loved nature.  Amanda was in her element when she was outdoors.  She favored going on hikes, and any type of camping, beach or mountain.  She relished making memories outdoors with her family.  Amanda enjoyed running and exercising.  She participated in a Ragnar and ran 2 Half-Marathons!

Everyone looked forward to birthdays as Amanda would create masterpieces with her cake baking and decorating skills.  She wasn’t afraid to try new flavors in her cake creations.

Amanda loved the gospel and was a true disciple of Christ.  She loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She was a very good listener.  She didn’t need or crave attention.  She was always present in one-on-one moments with people.  She had a great love for the individual.  She taught us all how to be patient and not sweat the small stuff.

Amanda loved to have fun and bring happiness to everyone.  Her laugh was contagious.  Her smile lit up the room.

The name Amanda means worthy of love and lovable.  This was true to our sweet Amanda.  She was her parents sunshine.  Her children adored her and her husband cherished and loved her.   Her legacy of love and light won’t ever be diminished as we remember and follow her example.

We love you Amanda Jean.
