Andrew Devon Hernandez

Our exuberant spirit, Andrew Devon Hernandez, completed his circle of life Sunday, Febuary 27, 2022, as the result of a car accident. Andrew Devon, 25, was born November 26, 1996 to Jennifer and Damian Hernandez in San Jose, California. From a young age, Andrew had an affinity for books, rocks and his little sister, Hannah. He took his role as her protector very seriously; earning a brown belt in karate by his early teens. In high school, Andrew played football and ran a lucrative, unauthorized snack business on campus. After graduating from Foothill High School's Class of 2015 he continued his education at American River College. He most recently worked for a hardware company as a forklift driver with aspirations of becoming a food truck vendor in New York City; a purveyor of his favorite sweet - Donuts.

Andrew's zeal for life was palpable; an earnest listener with a keen awareness of entropy for his 25 years. While the universe dictates that all things trend toward decline and chaos, Andrew strove to bring order and beauty to the world, every day; passionately encouraging those he knew and encountered to do the same. Andrew thrived on deep conversations about how the world worked, why people do what they do, and how to leave his best mark; to lessen the entropy.

A voracious reader favoring science fiction, he also enjoyed and appreciated great classics like The Old Man in the Sea, A Tale of Two Cities, and Oliver twist. A true product of his generation, he also adored the Harry Potter series. He took up magic and slight of hand, and became quite good at a number of card tricks.

Andrew smiled with his whole face and lit up the room. As a baby when he woke up from slumber, he would look around the room to see who was there and when he made eye contact with you, he would smile so big.

Andrew is survived by his sister Hannah, stepsister Ashley Shaffer, parents Damian Hernandez(father), Christopher Shaffer(stepdad), Jennifer Leonard(mother) and Noel Leonard (stepdad). His grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

His wonderful spirit, joy and happiness will be celebrated on Saturday April 9, 2022 at 10:00am at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, California.
