Angus “Ace” Cannon Ensign III passed away on May 24th 2022, at his home in Antelope, California at the age of 71.
Ace was born October 2nd 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah but was raised in Freeport, Illinois. After high school, Ace returned to Utah to attend BYU where he met the love of his life, Judy Fryer. The day after graduating, Ace and Judy were married and then promptly moved to the Bay Area of California where they had their four children. In 1990 they moved their family to Antelope (Sacramento) and a few years later the grandkids started to come. Ace’s greatest joy was being Papa to their 13 grandchildren. Ace had recently retired after 50 years of employment in the Sales and Training industry; he spent nearly the last 20 years with his Bosch Home Appliances family.
Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also played a major role in Ace’s life. He served in any capacity requested - from a missionary in the North Central states, to teaching the children in Sunbeams, to Bishoprics and the High Council but his favorite responsibility was serving at Girl’s Camp each year - he was excited to be this year’s dishwasher. His most recent assignment was working with the youth in seminary.
Besides serving in the church and being with his family, Ace had many hobbies from gardening, golf, ‘tinkering’ with any kind of project, to wandering around Home Depot (sometimes buying things just to return them) but his most favorite past time was giving people a hard time.
Ace is survived by his wife Judy, son Angus “Ace” Cannon Ensign IV (Kelly), son Chad, daughter Gendi Brummet (Michael), daughter Amber Avelar (Pedro) and 13 grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Marc (Pat), Eden (Bill), Meredith (Dave), Matt (Shelley) and Pyper (David).
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, Angus “Ace” Cannon Ensign Jr. & Mary Lou (Young) Ensign.
For those that would like to get in the last word and give Ace a hard time – memorial services will be held on Friday June 3rd at 10am at the Elverta Building (3621 Elverta Rd Antelope, CA 95843) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will be a visitation at Price Funeral Chapel on Thursday June 2nd from 5pm – 8pm. He will be laid to rest at the Roseville Cemetery.
