Anna Schiefeneder was born in a hamlet of 3 homes in Regen, Germany, the oldest of 6: Peter (deceased), Francesca, Paula, Karl & Michael. She attended school a mile away in the town of March. After grade 8, she worked for the local butcher & cared for the family's children. When her aunt in California invited her to move to San Francisco, she took her first flight, arriving in 1955. She worked as a nanny while taking night classes for US Citizenship & to learn English. She attended a gathering where Tony Pechaver, who'd recently arrived in San Francisco from Slovenia, showed slides of his travels through Germany. Ann & Tony married in 1957 at the Church of the Nativity & moved to Richmond, where their first 2 daughters were born. They moved to Rancho Cordova in 1960 for his teaching job. She completed her education & they had 2 more daughters. She worked at JCPenney in 1972 until retiring in 1998; she maintained her work friendships for 25 years. Ann was very active with the St. John Vianney Parish, volunteering in the classroom, thrift shop, & with Catholic Daughters, supporting many church events as well as sewing hundreds of walker bags & gift bags for military personnel. She was very committed to her faith, watching Mass on TV nightly when no longer able to attend in-person. Ann also loved to garden, especially vegetables & flowers. She was active in the San Francisco Slovenian community with Tony for over 50 years. Ann lived the last 2 years at Summerset, where she also made good friends. Ann had 4 daughters: Monika (Jim), Margaret (Judd), Helena (Mario), Barbara (Barry); 9 grandchildren (Alex, Tyler; Ryan, Amy; Josef, Martina, Antonia; Cameron, Nick) & 2 great-grandchildren (Clark & Jones). She'll be remembered by all those who knew her as kind, patient, generous, loving, well-dressed & very sweet. Funeral Mass at 11am on 4/23/22 at St. John Vianney, 10498 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova.
