Barbara Kenney Brewer

WWII Veteran and long time resident of Citrus Heights, Barbara Grace Kenney Brewer, passed away at 100 years old. 

Barbara passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025 at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Colfax. She was a resident of Citrus Heights for 65 years. 

Barbara was born August 13, 1924 in Panguitch, Utah to George Brye Kenney and Verda Church Kenney.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 4 children, son Robert (Shelly), son Mike (Karen), daughter Beverlee (Vic), son Tim (Donna), daughter-in-law Cindy, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Verda Kenney, her husband Bill, her son Rodney, great-grandson Owen, and brothers Brye, Robert and John Harold. 

Barbara left Utah after high school for Long Beach California, becoming one of the welders on the Liberty Ships. In 1944 Barbara joined the army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. She married her husband Bill in 1946 at Fort Benning, Georgia. They were married for 60 years. Her first three sons were born in Ohio. Later they moved to Sacramento (Bill took a job at McClellan AFB) in 1953 where their last two children were born. Barbara and Bill raised their 5 children in Citrus Heights. Barbara sold Avon for many of those years while raising her family. She was a member of the Citrus Heights Women's Club, bowled on Firesides Lane League, played pinochle at Rusch Park in Citrus Heights, and loved playing bingo.

Barbara was an incredible woman - passionate, honest and fiercely loving. Most of all she cherished her family. her memory will live on in the heart of those who knew and loved her. 

A viewing will be held at Price Funeral Chapel 6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA on Saturday March 8th, 2025 9:00 am

A Funeral Service in Price Funeral Chapel will follow at 10:00 am 

Graveside service to be held on Saturday March 8, 2025 at 11:30 am at Sylvan Cemetery 7401 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA

A reception will be held at Rusch Park Community Center 7801 Auburn Blvd. Citrus Heights, CA 95610 directly after the burial.
