Of Granite Bay, CA, after a heroic battle with lung cancer, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her three loving sons on October 21, 2018. An only child, and native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Barbara was 89 years, 11 months. Preceded in death by her husband since 1951, Dick in 2010. Loving mother of Jack (Rae Jean), Rick and Kevin (Deborah). Survived by 13 loving grandchildren and 22 adoring great-grandchildren. A devoted stay at home mother she re-entered the workforce for Sacramento Medical Foundation and later as Principal’s Secretary at El Camino High School for 21 years, working for 5 different principals, until her retirement. Barbara volunteered as a Sutter Hospital greeter, served as a Cub Scout leader, was a Little League volunteer as team mom and scorekeeper, volunteered with 70th Infantry Division Association reunions, and fundraising for Eskaton Granite Bay Lodge. Memorial services for family and friends will be held on Saturday November 17 at 12 noon at the LDS Church at 3430 Mission Avenue, Carmichael. Family and friends are also invited to attend Interment Ceremony at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on Monday November 19 at 10 am to be buried with her husband. Barbara was a life-long supporter of the American Cancer Society and donations may be made in her name. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11AM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery (5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA).
