Christine McCarty, a symbol of love for her family, peacefully departed this life into the embrace of Jesus on the evening of February 10th, 2025, at the age of 87. In her final days, she was comforted and surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Christine spent her early childhood in Daly City, California, before her family relocated to Sacramento, where she grew up. Christine was raised in a Christian home and had unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout her life. She was a devout soul and found solace in her love for the Lord by singing and playing the piano, which was a source of a spiritual connection for her. She shared her passion for music with her sisters in the Rays of Sunshine Quintet, where they traveled the country singing on numerous radio stations with their Reverend Brother Bishop.
Christine began her career in her teens working for Libby's canning company in Sacramento, California. Then she moved to Southern California with her sisters Genevieve, Celia and Angie to work at Hughes Aircraft as an electronic circuit board assembler. Christine then relocated back to Sacramento, where she happily became Mrs. James McCarty on December 24th, 1960 with whom she shared a blessed union for 64 years.
Christine discovered her true passion for working with children, leading her to obtain her teaching credentials in 1970. She subsequently began her career with the Sacramento Unified School District, teaching special need students at Joaquin Miller Junior High School. (A devoted student Loretta Juka maintained a heartfelt connection with her for over 5 decades until her departure.)
In addition to her dedication, Christine nurtured a fervent interest in writing, which prompted her to return to college to acquire writing credentials and culminated in the publication of a children's story in 1996. Among her various hobbies, she not only enjoyed singing and playing the piano but also had a profound appreciation for painting. Throughout her life, into her 80's, she took numerous classes to learn new techniques, resulting in her home being adorned with a diverse collection of her beautiful paintings.
After retiring, Christine spent her remaining years being a homemaker where she loved decorating her home and took great pride in her two daughters and grandchildren. her interests were vast and varied showcasing her commitment to family, friends, and her devotion to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Angelina Reyes, brothers Anthony and Steve, and sisters Celia, Marion and Genevieve. Christine's Legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband James A McCarty, her daughters, Cathy E Haft, Tammy E Neal, and her other children by marriage James L McCarty and Annamae McCarty, her grandchildren Julia J Dargan, Derek P Haft, Nichole A Haft; her great-grandchildren Cadence A Haft, Abagail A Haft, Trevor R Haft, Tessa E R Haft, her great-great-grandchild Grayson T Haft and her younger sister Angelina Jordan.
A Funeral Service will be held at Price Funeral Chapel on Friday March 7th, at 1 pm. 6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610
