It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chris “KK” Keith Hickey. Chris passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 45 at his home in Citrus Heights, CA. Chris was born August 6, 1980 in Oklahoma.

Chris was an automotive encyclopedia, and possessed an extensive amount of knowledge of anything with wheels (both useful and questionably useful). He had a strong understanding of all aspects of automobile Americana and rest of the world history, styling, and engineering. Chris was active in various clubs, both offline and online, and never missed a Hot Rod show. In the last year he found solace riding his Ryker reverse trike.

He also had a profound passion for physical and digital art, of which he infused with creativity and innovation despite the fact that he was colorblind. He was skilled in typography, visual design, and creating uniquely customized vehicles of all types.

In addition to his hobbies, Chris had a unique sarcastic and funny humor that endeared him to many. His quick wit, creativity, and “tell it like it is” attitude brightened the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impression, both in person and online.

Chris will be deeply missed by his parents, Shelley & Ron Valladao; his life partner, Nancy Keele; his brother and sister-in-law, Will & Alison Valladao; his brother, Derek Hickey; his father, Larry Hickey; his grandparents, Harless & Dorothy Hickey;  many aunts, uncles and cousins; his dogs Bear, Yogi, & Bailey, and the countless other relatives and friends who were touched by his presence.

A memorial will be held Sunday, February 1st, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the California Auto Museum, in the Alhambra room (Please RSVP). Food will be provided. Please no glitter (Chris’ wish), no alcohol, no drugs, no weapons (Auto museum rules). There may be an organized drive beforehand (meet up somewhere and drive as a group). There will be a way to provide donations to help offset the cost of the memorial. Anything extra will go directly to Nancy.
