Dale passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on February 8,2023. Dale was born in Seattle, Washington on May 24, 1932. Dale most recently lived in Rancho Cordova. He is preceded in death by his wife Shizuko Oberg, his brothers Robert Oberg and Richard Oberg, and his sisters Marilyn Linfoot, Marjorie Shallow, and Betty Jean Weir, and his beloved granddaughter Mandee Oberg. Dale is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Sparkman, her husband John Charles Sparkman and their children Amelia Sparkman and Lianne Sparkman; and his son Scott Oberg and his children Ryan Oberg, Phillip Oberg, Danielle Oberhansley, Jennifer Beck, Christopher Oberg, Michelle Oberg, and Katie Cooper, and 13 great-grandchildren. Dale was raised in Seattle, Washington by his parents Standard Oberg and Anna Oberg. His father served in the U. S. Coast Guard and Dale served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1971 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Following retirement from the Navy, Dale worked in the private defense industry another 8 years, then moved to North Caroline and established a wooden toy making business with his wife for about 10 years. Moving back to the west coast to be nearer to family, Dale and Shizuko initially settled in Meridian, Idaho. They later moved to Utah to be nearer to Scott and the grandchildren, and moved back to the Boise area following the death of his beloved wife in 2014. Ultimately Dale settled in California in 2021 to be cared for by his daughter until his peaceful passing. A private viewing for immediate family will be held on February 13, 2023 at the Price Funeral Chapel.
