David Lee Thomas, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home on January 8th, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. David was born on February 20th, 1951, in Iowa city, Iowa to Martha and Sherman Thomas. He was the 7th child out of 13 of his siblings. Dave graduated from Cordova High in 1969 and shortly after was drafted into the military at the age of 18. He joined the Air Force in 1970 as a Flightline Mechanic and Crew Chief and while also serving some of his time overseas in Vietnam. After 8 years with the Air Force, he continued working for the government with the Army as an IT Project Manager and Quality Assurance specialist for an additional 24 years before retiring. Dave was a computer enthusiast, loved camping and fishing with his friends and family. His favorite past time was watching Star Trek and Syfy shows. Many of his joyful moments were to build anything he could lay his hands on, playing Mexican train, reading and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved wife Cheryl of 54 years, daughters Debra Bannister, Becky (Will) Lumsargis. His 3 granddaughters Vanessa, Nicole and Alyssa. 5 great grandchildren Arius, Eros, Rhea, Payton and Ashton. His siblings Richard, Jacquie, Glen, Barbara, Donna, Tammy, Denise and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding him in death was his parents, Martha and Sherman Thomas, siblings Shirley Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Dale Thomas, Beverly Olsen and Teresa Rymel. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10am at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610). David will be laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
