Dean Ellis Lingenfelter

Dean Ellis Lingenfelter passed away July 9, 2020 entering into eternal rest after a 3 year battle with ALS. He was born April 23, 1945 to Claud and Beth Lingenfelter in Oakland, California.

The family moved to Paradise, California to be close to Dean’s grandparents. Dean had many fond memories of growing up in the area where he could be outside exploring with his brother Wayne and friends. He lived in Paradise attending grades K-3 where he met Jean Watson. They attended church at Church of the Brethren, where they began their friendship being tagged boyfriend and girlfriend.

The Lingenfelters moved to San Leandro and Dean graduated from Hayward High School in 1963. He proudly served his country in the Army for a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning he attended and graduated from Cal State Hayward with a degree in physics.

Dean and Jean reconnected and were married in 1971 moving to Hayward and Fremont where two sons Aaron and Daniel were born. Dean worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space as a non-destructive test engineer. In fall of 1982 the family moved to Fair Oaks and Dean started work at Aerojet. The family started attending Redeemer Covenant Church.

Dean enjoyed many hobbies, raising his sons and being involved in activities at church. He is preceded in death by his parents. Dean was grateful for the support of the V.A. and its people as he battled ALS which took him from us.
