Dennis Dolan Obituary

Dennis Michael Dolan, passed away on June 17, 2023. Dennis, a resident of Granite Bay, was born in Ventura, CA on November 3, 1979.

“He could be an ——— but I knew he had my back.” “Dennis got me a job when I was in a bad way.” “Dennis offered me a place to live when I had nowhere else to go.” “Dennis was so much fun to be around when we were kids. I was awkward and shy and he always took time to include me and make me laugh.” These are just a few of the reactions that have come flooding in from around the globe after Dennis’ untimely passing.

A mischievous child from day one, we never knew what trouble Dennis was going to get into from day to day or the trouble he might delight in getting you into. Dennis spent his formative years living in an international community in Bahrain. He made friends and connected with kids from all over the world, of different faiths, backgrounds, and races with ease. He was often known as Dennis the Menace but he really took after the British version of the character, who was far more wayward and dangerous than his American counterpart. Age did little to temper this reputation but what became increasingly apparent, as Dennis became a man was his compassion for others. So while he may have left you, head in your hands, bewildered by a tale of his perilous exploits. The next minute, he would leave you in awe as you witnessed him championing the underdog and supporting the vulnerable.

As an owner of his own flooring installation business, Winner Circle Flooring, Dennis continued to better himself through hard work and by supporting his friends with employment opportunities when they needed it.

Dennis was far more than your typical loveable rogue. A tough muscular exterior, covered in tattoos housed a sensitive individual who cared deeply for friends and family. There are just as many photos of Dennis buddying up to and hugging his beloved Uncle Pat who lived with Down Syndrome, as there are of him flexing his biceps on the river. With Dennis’ struggles and suffering came a profound understanding and empathy for the suffering of others. Everyone who knew him, knew he did his best to fight his demons and importantly we also knew he went above and beyond to help others with their own struggles. Each day after his passing we are learning more and more about this side of him. But now his struggle is over and we choose to imagine him fishing with his father Bob Dolan on a crystal clear lake, while chatting about the LA Dodgers, so very high up in the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Dennis was predeceased by his father, Robert Lloyd Dolan in 2013. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Dolan of Portland, OR, sister, Alison Lewis (Pete) of Portland, OR, Sister, Kara Dolan (Giuseppe) of Oxford, England and niece, Medwen Ana Lewis and nephew, Nino Trapani. Dennis also leaves a wide circle of friends from Bahrain, Seattle, and the Sacramento area who will miss his loyalty and support.

A viewing and friendship gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 1pm-3pm at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA.
