Donald Eugene Burton

Donald Eugene Burton (USAF Lt. Col.-Retired) passed away June 2, 2024, in Oroville, California, where he had lived for the past 3 years.  He was born in Oakfield, Maine, to John Levi and Pansy (Harmon) Burton on May 29, 1934. He graduated from Oakfield Community High School in 1951, and attended the University of Maine, Orono for two years before enlisting in the US Air Force in 1954. He married Marion I. Grant on December 20, 1953. She predeceased him in November 2021.

He is survived by his son Michael (Theresa) Burton of Texas, and his daughter Rhonda (Bryan) Klingler of California; Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren Crystal Klingler, Hayden and Zachery Hunter of Utah, Brandon (Sarah) Burton, Brody, Ella, Baylee, and Addilyn of Texas, Coleen Klingler, Treven and Maycie Bassett of Arizona, Cortney (Cecil) Duncan, Cora and Audrey of California, Kevin (Mallory) Burton, Bauer, Beckett, Charlotte, Rush, and MacGwire of Utah, Curtis (Alexandria) Klingler, Joseph and Claire of Missouri, and David (Emma) Burton, Ava, West, and Samson of Utah. He is also survived by his first great-great-granddaughter Lorelei Kapri Bassett.  Other survivors are a sister Marilyn Burton and a sister-in-law Sharon Grant, both of Maine; two nephews Edward (Kathy)Slauenwhite and Kevin (Shiela) Grant; two nieces Paula (Lewis) Conrad and Melinda Butcher.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Clyde Burton, his in-laws Burns and Grace (Brawn) Grant, Sr. and a brother-in-law Burns Grant, Jr.

Services will be held at the Price Funeral Chapel in Citrus Heights, California on June 21. Viewing hours will be at 9:30-10:30 with the funeral following at 10:30. Burial will follow at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Dixon, California.
