Donna Denise Smith was born on June 16, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Ida Mae Powell and James Smith. At an early age, Donna relocated to Oakland, California, where she lived the majority of her life. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1972 and received numerous scholarships all while raising her newborn baby girl. After, she attended Laney College, where she pursued Dance and Communication. Later, in the Spring of 2017, she returned back to school where she received her Culinary degree from the Institute of Technology.
From 1970 to 1977, Donna had three beautiful daughters; Carsilla, Valencia and Niesha, who she single handedly raised, cared for, nurtured, and adored so much. She endured triple the stress, work and tears, but still managed to give them all the love they needed to stand and remains strong, grateful, and happy on their own within their lives and families.
Donna had a wonderful sense of humor which endeared her to everyone she came in contact with, which is a great testament to her nature. She formed many bonds and friendships over the years. She was a warm, compassionate, vibrate soul who literally lit up the room whenever she entered. She was a proud and dignified woman, who had a beautiful passion and zest for life.
Donna was a miracle and true testament of a seed that was planted, loved and protected by God himself. Her Mother was told that she couldn't have any children, but by the grace of God, he had a different plan and always has the last word. When Donna was in the womb, hr eas found under a tumor and was completely healthy and was a shocl and surprise to her mother and everyone else. Donna was the only child, however, from one, blossomed many. She built a tribe on her own. A strong, powerful, beautiful family that she cherished, loved and prayed for every day. Her LEGACY!
