Dorothy Ellen Christian died peacefully January 31, 2024, in Orangevale, California. She was born July 20, 1929, in El Centro, and raised in Alhambra, California, oldest of three children of Arthur and Virginia Gillespie. Dorothy married Fredrick William Christian, III, on May 7, 1949, and had five children: Susan Christian, Mary Nollette, Sandra Christian, Virginia Brien, and Fredrick Christian, IV (Gudrun); 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her strong faith was always evident. She was a loyal and cherished wife to Fred, supporting and partnering with him in all that he did. Dorothy also regularly cared for others in need. Her generosity was miraculous; she loved and cared for her family while so many others also received her loving attention. She worked outside of the home for several years for the telephone company, etc. In later years Dorothy and Fred served three work missions in Laie, Oahu, and loved the people, culture, and beauty of Hawaii. Dorothy was a talented artist, singer, and actress, blessing her children with memories of her singing to them in every situation. She was a happy person, with great humor and kindness. Her family never saw her act or speak with anger or malice. Dorothy was truly an angel on earth and will be missed deeply by her loved ones always.
