Earletta Morton Obituary

Earletta Jane Morton, devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2021 in Antelope, California, after battling cancer for many years. She was born on June 6, 1940 in Nampa, Idaho, the eldest of 3 children.  She was a loving mother to her 6 children, 4 step-daughters and daughter/granddaughter Savannah. When she entered the workforce, she managed the House of Fabrics in Salt Lake City, then the branch in San Jose. Thereafter, she partnered Paradise Cruises & Tours in San Jose and Antelope.  As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Earletta dedicated her life to the service of others, touching many lives with her unbounded wisdom, compassionate heart and wonderful sense of humor.  Earletta’s adventurous spirit took her and Wes to many places around the globe, including Western Europe, the Mediterranean, Mexico, Alaska, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Her happy place was any beach, specifically Cannon Beach, Oregon, where she met her sweetheart 45 years ago. She has an artistic hand and beautified her home with many floral arrangements of her own design, as well as oil paintings….a gene she inherited from her mother. That artistic flare showed up in her entertaining and her home was always a magical place around the holidays. She loved caffeine-free Diet Pepsi, milk chocolate, Hallmark movies, anything Disney, and date nights at movie theaters. Her grandchildren knew her by “Gram” and “Grammy” and she enjoyed sharing beach-time and Disneyland with them.  Earletta is survived by her husband, Wes Morton, her siblings Arnold Simmons (and wife Saheadra), and sister Lorinda Simmons, her children, Vea McDonald (and husband Brent), David Higginson, Bonnie Shaw (and her husband Mark), Jennifer Morton (and her husband Greg), Charlynn Robertson, her step-daughters, Kelly Jo Morton, Rikki deMik (and husband Jeff), Tracy Frye, Angela Nippert (and husband Steve), her daughter/granddaughter Savannah, and her 33 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Wendy Anne Morton and her parents, Earl and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Simmons.  PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (916-725-2109), directors.
