Edwin "Ted" Wakefield Obituary

Ted Wakefield was born March 9, 1936 to his parents, Milan & Charlotte Wakefield. He grew up in Pasadena, CA with his oldest brother Mike. He went to John Muir High School where he would meet his longtime friends George Argyros and Gene “EP” Anderson who he stayed in contact with over the years. In his younger days he loved to play water polo and basketball at Muir Middle School. After graduating high school he served his country proudly in the US Army from January 1958-July 1958. In (1958-1959) he spent time at Pasadena City College where he met his future wife Patricia. They were married at First Christian Church in Pasadena, CA in 6/10/1960 - They were married for 44 years. One of their favorite hobbies was playing tennis and participating in doubles tournaments. Off the court they enjoyed wine tasting and traveling. They would take many exciting trips to Spain, Portugal and England & other exotic places. They enjoyed meeting new people, experiencing different cultures & trying new foods. Ted’s first job was a draftsman at Flour Corporation where he worked alongside his father, Milan Sidney Wakefield. Later in his career as a draftsman he also worked at various engineering companies such Toups, C.F. Brown, EL Pearson, CWC/HDR Engineering, Boyle Engineering & Owen Engineering. In 1979 the family had an opportunity to move to Cameron Park, CA. It was there that they built their dream home on five acres. The house had a stunning view, which my father always appreciated. It was there that my father gained a new appreciation for nature and animals such as Llamas, horses, goats and cats. After retiring at the age of 57 he was able to fully enjoy his hobbies of tennis & hitting buckets of balls on the driving range at the Cameron Park Country Club. He enjoyed listening to classical music and watching his favorite movie “The Sound of Music”

He died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86 after a three year battle with dementia.. He is preceded by his mother (Charlotte) and father (Milan), brother Mike and wife Patricia.. He will be remembered as being a loving father, husband & friend. Most people who met him will remember his amazing Blue eyes & his sense of humor. He is survived by his son, Gary Wakefield and daughter Jennifer Caris & granddaughter (Stephanie Caris)
