Floyd Henderson, Jr. was born in New Franklin, Missouri, the first of 4 sons of Bridelle and Floyd Henderson. Raised is Sedalia, Missouri,
Hank attended public schools, and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School. As a student, he had 2 years of private music tutoring, and participated in concert, marching bands and orchestras, launching his life- long love of performing music. After graduation Hank enlisted in the U. S. Navy, first serving during World War II on the heavy cruiser the USS Portland, then as a U.S. Navy Reservist during the Korean Conflict. After military service, Hank went to work for Pacific Telephone Company in California. Working his way up through the ranks, he retired after a 35- year career, having attained the position of Chief Special Agent. After retirement Hank went on to perform in many different bands and started a couple on his own. He continued performing until the last three years of his life.
Hank is predeceased by wives Dorothy Domenici Henderson and Donella Warren Henderson, and daughter Sheri Stevens. He survived by his son David (Ann), son Gerald (Kay), son-in- law Al Stevens (Yolanda), step-son Greg Herring (Cindy), step-daughter Sandi Miller, step-son Ted Herring, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as former wife Patricia Williams.
In conjunction with his cousin Orval Henderson, Jr., Hank compiled volumes of genealogical information, donated to the Western Manuscript Library, University of Missouri.
Hank will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California following a private family service. In lieu of flowers the family requests remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the American Federation of Musicians Local 12 or the VFW Post 4647.
