Frank Aldo Horat, 86, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 in Citrus Heights. He was born on September 14, 1937, in Fremont, CA to Swiss immigrants, Maria Miranda and Frank Horat. He had two elder sisters, Elsie Wilkins (George) and Lena George (Clayton). During his childhood and adolescence, he labored on the family dairy in Fremont and attended Washington High School.
Frank married Lyla Lloyd and they raised three children. They lived in Fremont until 1979, when they moved to Aptos, CA. Frank served with the Fremont Fire Department from 1960-1993, and became Captain in 1972. Frank also worked at his friend’s auto shop, doing landscape projects, or turning a wrench on a personal truck restoration project.
In 1989, Frank and Lyla parted ways and Frank moved back to Fremont. In 1994 he married Rena Eastly and they moved to Escalon. After retirement he kept busy driving trucks for local dairy and silage businesses, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and frequenting Swiss Parks and other social events. His final two years were at the Oars Senior Living Facility in Citrus Heights.
Frank is survived by 3 children: Frank (Mary), John (Tanya), and Sabrina; 7 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be in early 2024. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Frank.
