Fredrick William Christian III died March 28, 2024, in Orangevale, California. Born in Glendale to Fred and Dorothy Christian October 24, 1927, he had one brother, John. He left 57 days after the death of his beloved wife Dorothy, married since May 7, 1949. Five children: Susan Christian, Mary Nollette, Sandra Christian, Virginia Brien, and Fredrick Christian, IV (Gudrun); 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Fred was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a tool designer in the aerospace industry and also enjoyed working in his home machine shop on a large lathe, drill presses, welding equipment, etc. He was a weightlifter and earned a black belt in Jiu Jitsu under his dear sensei Wally Jay. He loved flying his family all over California in his small Cessna. He was an engaged father living a faith-driven life. He was a good match for his wife, as they selflessly helped so many people. Fred loved animals; he could hold a sick kitten in his large strong hands and love it back to health. Fred and Dorothy were adventurers, often driving their children to the ocean, mountains, out of state, even to the East Coast. In later years they served three work missions in Laie, Oahu. He was loving and outgoing, making friends everywhere he went. For the last 16 years he cared for his precious wife and kept her healthy after her diagnosis of dementia. He rarely left her side and she adored him. Even when she started to forget so much she always knew Fred was her person. After her death his heart was broken and though he was healthy, he clearly chose to leave this existence to be with his sweetheart. As hard as it is to let him go, his parting is not begrudged. He is loved, appreciated, and missed. Graveside service at Sylvan Cemetery gazebo April 9, 2024, 12:30 p.m.
