Garold “Big Gary” Fred Patrick, age 67, died in his home early in the morning on Thursday, January 28th, 2021. He was born on February 27th, 1953 in Nampa, Idaho and moved to Sacramento in the 70’s, where he graduated from Luther Burbank High School.
In July 1981, Gary married Denise McSwain in Reno, Nevada. They raised one son together, Garold and one daughter, Candice. While he was a long-time resident of Citrus Heights, CA, his later years were spent in El Dorado County.
As a dedicated member of the Operating Engineers Local 3 and the Northern California Laborers Local 185, Gary was a part of the largest union for tradesmen in the United States. For over 45 years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and roller-man.
Gary’s mechanical mind drove his passion for rebuilding Harleys and classic cars. He was also known as an avid gamer who would frequent the slot machines at the local casino.
Following his retirement, Gary devoted the majority of his time with his son and three grandchildren, Aiden, Killian and Elena. He took pleasure in driving the children to their
practices and relished in any opportunity to help his son with home renovation projects. He is survived by his son, grandchildren, as well as extended family and a lifetime of dear
friends.
Due to the pandemic, his family plan to have a memorial service at a later time.
