Longtime Rancho Cordova resident Gerald “Jerry” Corbett passed away on April 17, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born in Woodland, California in 1937, Gerald was the oldest child of Francis and Loretta Corbett. He grew up in Winters, California and graduated from Winters Joint Union High School in 1956 before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He spent 20 years in the Air Force with assignments in Asia and the U.S., retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant before settling permanently in Rancho Cordova in 1976. He then continued his working years at the Sacramento Army Depot.
While stationed in Tokyo, Japan, Gerald met and married the love of his life, Masae (Martha) in 1960. He liked to tell people how he was married five times, but to the same woman. The first two marriages were in government offices, filling out the needed paperwork for both countries. The ceremony at the Far East Mission Home (the site of the current Tokyo Temple) was performed twice on behalf of the attendees: once in Japanese and again in English. (He got to kiss the bride twice.) In 1962, they were sealed in the Los Angeles California Temple for time and all eternity.
Gerald was a devoted and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over the course of his life, he served in a variety of callings with gladness.
Committed to serving others, Gerald also worked at the Cordova Community Food Locker for 15 years.
Gerald is preceded in death by his sister Linda Connor and brothers Dale Corbett and Daniel Corbett. He is survived by his sister Carol Becker, his brother Richard Corbett, his wife Masae, his three children - Sarah (Mehdi) , David (Kari) and Helen - and four grandchildren, Max, Camron, Samantha, and Alexandra.
His funeral service is scheduled on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (2400 Cordova Lane, Rancho Cordova). Price Funeral Chapel (916-725-2109), directors.
