Gordon left his earthly body on May 22, 2026 at the age of 94 to be rejoined with those who predeceased him; namely, his parents Emeral and Clara Brown, our mother Joy and his wife of 66 years, brothers Gary and wife Marilyn, Wayne and wife Janet, son-in-law Chris, and great- grandson Jaron Millar. He leaves behind his 4 adult children Terry (Nancy), Monty (Jacqui), Pam, and Rodney (Diane), 15 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gordon enjoyed a life rich in family, farm, and church. He and his brothers were constant companions, and, along with his cousins, enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting. He graduated from the University of Utah and worked as a civil engineer in Utah until he and his family relocated to Sacramento, California in 1960. He joined the Air National Guard (Air Force) and worked 35 years while becoming an expert marksman earning a Wilson (WPW) National competition and attaining rank of Lt. Colonel. He will be buried with full military honors.

After retirement in 1986, Gordon and Joy enjoyed travel to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean Islands. Travel became less frequent after his Sacramento grandchildren arrived. His final trip was a road trip to Salt Lake City in 2021 to celebrate his upcoming 90th birthday. He was thrilled to see his brothers and it would be their final visit.

Gordon LOVED all of his grandchildren and is remembered for his pranks on them, root-beer floats, and hamburger barbeques. He followed their ambitions and interests with passion and both he and Joy always knew the latest about them and which state or country the grandkids resided.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Rancho Cordova ward for over 60 years and enjoyed many friendships there. His church callings brought him much joy and into his 80’s he was delighted to count the congregation so he could wink and say hello to the friends and children that befriended him. He enjoyed his trips to the Sacramento Crisis Nursery and provided donations yearly to them.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Warren Brandle for his enduring compassion, Vitas and Sun Crest Hospice for personal care to the end, and especially the staff and care partners at Carlton Senior Living of Sacramento for their community and love that was shown for our dad. He knew he was loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 15th at 10am at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Boulevard, Citrus Heights, CA. 95610, followed by private internment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. Dad told us he wanted donations to go to the NRA. We would also recommend that as an alternative donations can be made to The Sacramento Children’s Home, 2750 Sutterville Road, Sacramento, CA 95818.
