Hai Luc passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the age of 86. Hai was born in Bà Rịa, Vietnam on June 24, 1936. She was the third youngest of four children and only daughter of Kinh Diệp and Phương Quân. Growing up, Hai helped her mother manage a mom-and-pop store and successfully ran her own store when she married. She immigrated to the U.S. in March 1979 with her husband, their two daughters, and reunited with their son, who previously immigrated in 1975. They lived in Weimar and Meadow Vista for a short time and have resided in Auburn since December 1980.
After enjoying a 26-year career with Blaylock’s Inc., an electrical wiring harness assembly company, Hai retired at the age of 73, when the company closed its doors. She had many skills and interests. Hai was an amazing self-taught cook, who enjoyed cooking delicious food for family, relatives, and friends. She had a passion for international travel, which took her to Australia, Canada, and various countries in Europe and Asia. Hai took great pleasure in gardening, nurturing flowers and tending to vegetable plants in her yard.
Hai is remembered by family and friends as a devoted and loving mother, a caring wife, a generous friend, and a wonderful person with whom to share a conversation. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hau Luc, their son Dau Luc, daughters Lan Luc and Huong (Allen) Dye, and four grandchildren Kevin Luc, Sarah Dye, Dylan Dye, and Ethan Dye.
There will be a viewing for Hai on Saturday, December 10, 2022, starting at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 287 Poet Smith Drive in Auburn. The interment service will be held at 12:00 pm at the Auburn Cemetery District located at 1040 Collins Drive. Price Funeral Chapel (916-725-2109), directors.
