Hannah Grow-Summerhays Obituary

Hannah Beth Summerhays was born on September 3, 1987 to Gary and Lyn Summerhays, in Sacramento, California. She passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2021, in Turlock California. She is survived by her loving wife, Tara Grow-Summerhays, her parents, brothers & sisters: Jenny, Amy, Aaron {Kristi}, Jacob {Ambyr}, Joanna, Caleb {Amy}, Hyrum, Joshua {Amy}, Rosemary {Tyler}, Amanda {Logan}, and Isaiah. She is also survived by her father & mother-in-law, sister-in-laws {Carissa & Savanna} & brother-in-laws {Brian & Hal}, and many nieces and nephews.

Hannah grew up in Carmichael, California, enjoying relationships with her many brothers and sisters. She participated on many competitive soccer teams, experiencing much success. When eleven years old, she began her interest in golf by hitting golf balls into the neighbor’s sheep pasture. It was evident at this early time, that she had a natural talent for the game. North Ridge Country Club gave her an honorary membership & her potential began to be realized. Hannah won many tournaments & qualified for several national tournaments in her youth.

She was offered a golf scholarship at BYU.

In her professional career, she worked at Catta Verdera CC,

Yocha Dehe Golf Club, The Villages Golf & Country Club in San Jose, & San Jose CC. She was a much-loved teacher, & recognized as one of the top female professional instructors in the Bay Area.

Hannah loved the elderly from a very young age. She had a natural compassion and was drawn to them. She had a huge heart for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, & hosted a golf tournament, “Swinging for Memories”, where all proceeds were given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Hannah & Tara married on March 21, 2017, & celebrated on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hannah was a natural athlete, who loved all sports, however Tara could always beat her at foosball. She was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants, always enjoyed rooting for the Utah Jazz, & spent her weekends watching the Golf Channel.

Hannah was a big fan of Tim McGraw, and saw him in concert over ten times. She also liked to garden at home & most recently took up wood working. She enjoyed long walks taking her two Huskies, Nixon and Paisley to the dog park. They brought her so much joy, & she loved spoiling them with toys and treats. Hannah & Tara enjoyed traveling, & most recently visited Globe Life Field, their 14th baseball stadium, home of the Texas Rangers. The goal was to visit all 30, MLB stadiums. Hannah was incredibly smart, & never stopped learning. She recently completed her EMT certification, along with passing her National test. She also, recently took her Fire written exam… however, she was sadly not here to see the results… that she successfully passed! Hannah’s goal was to become a firefighter, & help save lives.

Hannah will be greatly missed by all that loved her, and her memory will live on.
