Hester Marlene Gehling

Hester Marlene Gehling, 85, formerly of Citrus Heights, CA passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2024, in Roseville, CA. Hester was born on November 27, 1938 in Superior, WI to Joseph and Clara (Angvik) Gehling. She was raised and attended school and church in Patzau, WI and graduated from High School in Superior, WI. Following graduation from High School, Hester went to work at Banco Corporation in Minneapolis, MN, and later earned a degree in education at the University of Wisconsin - Superior. She taught in Milwaukee, WI and Inver Grove Heights, MN and later returned to Banco Corp. She moved to Dain Bosworth Company in Minneapolis where she worked, retiring as assistant Vice President of Human Resources. After she retired, Hester moved to Citrus Heights, CA where she spent time with her brother and his family. She was an active member of The Roseville Quilters, The Red Hat Ladies and was definitely a socialite. Hester loved music and would spend countless hours playing and singing in front of her upright piano at home. She was also an award-winning quilter who loved showcasing her pieces at local quilt shows and events. During her retirement Hester set out to know more about her biological son Tom, and was happily reunited with him in 2006. Hester is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Cordell, his wife Mary, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Hester is survived by her son Thomas, his husband Todd Steele, their son Nathan Steele and his wife Katrina, her Godson Ken, the Bersamin family, and many friends and relatives. The memorial service for Hester will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 11am. Refreshments will be served afterwards. The church is Advent Lutheran Church located at: 5901 San Juan Ave, Citrus Heights, CA. Pastor Gabriele Shroeder will lead Hester’s service.
