Hubert Ward Edwards

Hubert Ward Edwards (Ward) passed away on the 19th day of April the year 2024 Dad will be missed by all who have known him, and loved him.

Dad has been fighting with a lung complication for many years. Dad was at his home at the time of passing with family near him. He stood up to his illness and remaining busy working in his wood shop, caring for his yard, enjoying the many years of bountiful vegetable gardens, many fruit trees The most awesome peach trees, plums and apricots.  He found his joy in riding his tractor in the back forty, (his term).

He spent 68 anniversaries alongside mom, his strength and endurance were driven by his desire to be near her during the many years she fought against the ravages of Alzheimer’s, even during his weakened moments. The Covid years where difficult because of the varying visiting restrictions, that took a toll on his loving heart with given only the opportunity to speak by phone.

Dad rarely shared his emotions, but sensing the sadness by having no physical proximity to mom, and the words absent to her ears.

Dad was born in Shawsville, Virginia having 2 brothers, 2 sisters in a decent parcel of land that provided for year-round crops. The family raised pigs, chickens and a few heads of steer.

Dads’ early years (teens)he enlisted with the US Navy during the Korean conflict, once in, he specialized in ship-to-ship communications. Dads’ vessel was home to a Rear Admiral so he was in a naval group that was well protected.

Before he was honorably discharged, he met his soon to be wife Rosemarie Carman, they dated and engagement of marriage began.  January 30th 1955, they shared their wedding vows.

Dad then landed a position as a Stationary Engineer. He worked in a brewery mainly Engine Room watch, including ammonia compressor maintenance and the many aspects involving refrigeration and steam equipment.

Mom and dad moved from San Francisco, Daly City, Citrus Heights and landed in Rocklin California.

Ward is survived by his eldest Daughter Deborah Jensen, Middle son William Edwards and the youngest Daughter Janet Calloway. He has a Beautiful and smart Grand Daughter Jennifer Ross and Great Grandson Gavin Dustin whom was ever so dear to his him.

There will be gathering of family and friends at Mom and Dad’s place of interment at Gold Hills Cemetery Newcastle, California.

May 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm where a Naval honor guard will give a final salute to a once proud US Service Veteran.
