James Michael Brooks, 70, passed away at Mercy Hospital of cardiac arrest while awaiting bi-pass surgery. Mike was the oldest son of the late James and Karen Brooks. He was born in Oakland, Ca December 2, 1953, and was raised in the small town of Loomis, graduating from Del Oro High school in 1972. Mike was a true country boy and superior mechanic learning those skills from his father. He was an ambitious entrepreneur starting Galaxy Trailer Manufacturing in Auburn and started Five Cities Mobile Home Repair in Pismo Beach in 1990. He eventually followed a passion of heavy equipment operation, which led him to work for Cal-Trans for 10 years.
He met his loving wife Debra (Atkins) in 1995 (married December 9th, 2009), and on Jan. 3, 1999, his life was forever changed and blessed with a beautiful baby daughter they named Savanah. She was the apple of his eye, the most precious thing he could ever imagine and he loved her more than life.
Mike was raised in the country, hunting, fishing, dealing with farm equipment and animals. His passion for fishing stayed with him for life.
Michael was a beloved husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a hardworking man who always helped anyone who needed it, particularly with anything related to auto repair. He was always the family ‘Go to Guy’ for any diagnostic advice. He will be missed. Mike loved German Shepherd dogs and his last one, Cleo is left sad and confused. Michael is survived by his wife Debra Brooks, his daughter Savanah, his brother Gary/wife Cindy and Casey/wife Candance, sister Janice Gary/husband Darrell and sister Monica Hofland/husband Brian. Preceded in death his brother Ron and his mother and father.
His family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. September 4, 2024, for graveside services at Sylvan Cemetery 7401 Auburn Blvd. Citrus Heights, Ca 95610. Followed by a gathering at Gary and Cindy’s house at 2367 E. Green Springs Ct, Rescue, Ca 95672. Price Funeral Chapel (916-725-2109), directors.
