James Cauthen Ross

James C. Ross was born in Florence, SC on November 29, 1933. He passed on to be with our Lord on October 16, 2020. James is survived by his four sons, Jimmy, Michael (Kari), Brian, Mark (Tammy) and daughter Donna Kennedy (Paul).  He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Jo Anne Monson Ross and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James served in the Navy as an electronics maintenance engineer on airplanes and was stationed on an aircraft carrier for most of his service time. James then went on to work in construction building damns around the country. While working on a damn he saw a mobile home being transported so he decided that has to be better than this job and decided to buy a truck, where he then moved to Reno, Nevada and resided for over 30 years raising his family and successfully running an owner/operator mobile home transporting company. During this time he was an active race car driver at various California and Nevada tracks where he made many friends and enjoying life to the fullest. After he retired and during one of his trips to Florence to visit family, he ran into an old school friend from high school (Jo Anne). They spent much time together and married. He then moved to Florence, SC where he became active with his faith and discovered volunteering with the church and many other church organizations to be very fulfilling. He finished out the fast few months of his life in California living in the home of his son Mark and being cared for by his sons Mark and Michael and daughter, Donna and a great team of caregivers. Due to COVID, the ceremony is by invitation only. His final resting place will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. Please no flowers.
