Jeffrey Michael McAlpine Obituary
Jeffrey Michael McAlpine passed away peacefully at home from complications of polycystic kidney disease on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter. He is now at rest, reunited with his parents and other cherished family members who went before him.
Jeff was born on May 30, 1964, in Sacramento, California, where he spent his entire life. From an early age, it was clear to his parents, Duke and Linda, that he was destined for a mechanical and technical path as he was always taking things apart to understand how they worked. He graduated from El Camino High School, where he lettered in music, and went on to attend American River College, performing and traveling with the school’s jazz band.
After receiving his Mechanical, Electrical and Technology Certificate from Sacramento City College, Jeff entered the family business, working alongside his parents and brother at Park Mechanical for many years. After the business was sold, he found a new professional home at Cooper Oates Air Conditioning, where he proudly earned his refrigeration certification. Over the years, he held several roles, including Field Supervisor and Technical Support Specialist, and his most valued role of Mentor. Jeff was deeply committed to sharing his knowledge, training and supporting new technicians both in the field and in the office. His phone rang 24/7.
While attending American River College, Jeff met Melanie in the parking lot of Bel Air, where they quickly bonded over their shared love of movies. Their first date was to see Rain Man, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership. They were married on April 26, 1997, in Citrus Heights, California. Over 28 years of marriage, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their daughter alongside a lively household of cherished pets, including numerous dogs, a couple of cats, a goldfish, a few rats, two cockatiels, and even a pigeon.
Throughout his life, Jeff found great joy in music. He was a talented guitarist, trombonist, and pianist, and also enjoyed playing the drums. He had a deep love for motorcycles and formed many lasting friendships within that community. Some of his happiest moments were spent on weekend rides with his wife and friends. Jeff approached everything in life with thoughtfulness and care, never making decisions without thorough research. This attention to detail was especially evident in his passion for building computers from the ground up, a hobby he pursued with both skill and dedication.
Jeff will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and outgoing sense of humor, as well as his remarkable ability to diagnose and fix just about anything. He made a lasting impact on many throughout his career, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply and profoundly missed.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Melanie; his daughter, Natasha (Alan); his cherished grandchildren, Charlotte and Thomas; and his brothers, John (Roxanne) and David (Paula).
Jeff will be interred at Fair Oaks Cemetery close to his parents and other family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on April 25, 2026 at Robert H. Miller Rotary Clubhouse, 11:00 AM, 7150 Baldwin Dam Road, Folsom, CA.
