Jeramias Fernando was born on August 13, 1925 in Sri Lanka and passed away on December 12, 2020 in Roseville California. Jeramias was a lovely husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife Matilda and their five children: Dilahri, Mark, Suresh, Nisha, and Jessica. Jeramias was born on August 13th, 1925 in the small town of Mutuwadiya in Sri Lanka. He was the middle child among his youngest and oldest brother. Growing up, you would always find him swimming in the river, riding his bike and playing with his classmates. Jeramias married Iranganie Matilda on December 26th, 1962, and their 58th wedding anniversary is this month. Jeramias and Matilda became parents to 5 amazing children; three girls and two boys. Jeramias knew the value of education from a small age. He was a high school graduate and studied accounting and finance as his major. His favorite subject in accounting was the balance sheet, and he always used to crack jokes about how it was never balanced. After receiving his education, he attained a job as a bank officer at the age of 20. He went off to enjoy a career in banking for 45 years at a reputable bank in Srilanka. He had a great sense of humor and would scare his grandchildren by using his walking stick. A major interest of his was stage dramas; which was popular in Srilanka during the 60’s. Jeramias always compared the new generation dramas to the old, and was thrilled to see the industry grow and evolve over time. He would constantly try to explain the dramas to his grandchildren. Even as he got older, he continued to enjoy swimming and biking, as well as any type of house or yard work he could do. He loved anything that had to do with the outdoors. After having raised his children, Jeramias and Matilda migrated to the US, and resided in California with some of their children and grandchildren. Together Jeramias and Matilda have 8 grandchildren: Dishan, Imesh, Sharon, Melissa, Tiffany, Stephan, Shanil, and Stefani. Jeramias enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and tried to instill great values within them as they were growing up. Jeramias lived a wonderful 95 years before passing. Jeramias was a man with a love and appreciation for everything around him. His love for food is what his children and grandchildren loved to joke about, because a nice meal and a nice drink is what kept him going. He taught us to live life to the fullest with a strong head on our shoulders. We loved him and will always love the man who made us laugh. We appreciate you for giving us the family around us, the healthy genes for a long life, and all the great moments we shared with you. You will continue to live through us all. A viewing (limited to 10 people or less due to Covid-19 governmental restrictions) is scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA) from 10:00am - 11:30am, with a memorial mass at 11:30am.
