Jeremy Philip LaPointe

Jeremy Philip LaPointe, beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, mentor, and devoted servant of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, in Roseville, California. He was 50 years old.

Jeremy was born on June 24, 1976, in Santa Barbara, California, to Charles and Jane LaPointe. He spent his childhood in the Santa Barbara and Ventura County areas. He attended Carpinteria High School and later attended the University of California, Santa Barbara.

From an early age, Jeremy had a strong work ethic and a natural ability to build, repair, and figure things out. Throughout his life, he worked in several family businesses and a variety of industries, including his family’s equipment yard in Carpinteria, C&J Repairs in Ventura, Stihl Saw Company, and DCOR Oil Company in Ventura, where he worked on the Hillhouse platform. He later worked in water distribution for the City of Roseville and served as a project manager and part owner of M-10 Builders.

Jeremy’s greatest accomplishments were never found on a résumé. They were found in the people he loved and the lives he touched.

Jeremy was a lifelong example of service. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 13 and developed a cherished and unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. His faith in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ, remained steadfast throughout his life, regardless of the trials he experienced.

At the age of 19, Jeremy was called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He loved the people he served there and had many fond memories of them. His favorite part of his mission was witnessing the transformation that took place as his new friends accepted the invitation to be baptized and to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Seeing lives change through faith in Christ brought him tremendous joy and strengthened the testimony that would guide him for the rest of his life.

Jeremy married Christiane Patrice LaPointe, the love of his life on February 1st 2007.  They both told each other at first they weren't looking for a serious relationship and that they would just be friends and have fun dating. It quickly became obvious that they were both all in and they didn't waste any time.  They were engaged a couple of months later in October and Married just four months after that. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Sacramento California Temple. They both dreamed of having children and were blessed with three beautiful daughters; He adored his girls, Isabella Jane, Emilia Sue, and Tessah Patrice, and being a father was one of his greatest joys. He was an extraordinary girl dad and embraced every part of raising daughters, even willingly becoming the family guinea pig for makeup and nail polish. Together Jeremy and Christie built a family centered on love, faith, hard work, service, and helping others. 

Jeremy was heavily involved in his daughters’ lives. He taught them what he knew, worked alongside them on projects, and made time for both the important work and the simple fun of being together. He was always talking to others about his wife and daughters, and was fiercely devoted to them. His family knew without question how deeply they were loved.

Jeremy especially loved serving the youth. He dedicated countless hours to working with young men and young women, including volunteering at church youth camps and helping run the ropes course high among the trees of the Sierra Nevada mountains. He loved watching young people face challenges, discover their abilities, and gain confidence in themselves. He believed in helping youth become strong and capable, and he gave his time freely to help them do so.

He was also a dedicated volunteer with Take Note Troupe, an organization whose mission of developing and encouraging youth was deeply meaningful to Jeremy and his family. He believed in investing in young people and helping them discover their talents and potential.

A little over a year before his passing, Jeremy was called to serve as First Counselor in the bishopric of his ward. He cherished the opportunity to serve alongside his fellow bishopric members and considered his church service a privilege. His faith was not simply something he talked about, it was something he lived. He taught his family and the youth he served that discipleship is demonstrated through love, service, compassion, and a willingness to help.

Jeremy was lovingly known by his extended family as “MacGyver.” There was almost nothing he couldn’t fix, build, repair, or figure out. If something was broken, Jeremy would find a way to make it work again. If someone needed a tool, Jeremy probably had it—and was more than happy to lend it. If someone needed help, they only had to ask. He lived by a simple motto: “If someone needs help, we help.”

He and Christie modeled that principle for their daughters throughout their marriage, teaching them that helping others was not an obligation but simply part of who they were. Jeremy gave his time, his skills, his tools, and his energy generously, expecting nothing in return.

Jeremy shared a close and loving relationship with his parents, Charles and Jane. He enjoyed spending time with them and helping with projects around their property, finding genuine happiness in working alongside them.

Jeremy was joyful, optimistic, kind, and endlessly helpful. He had a way of making people feel that whatever problem they were facing could be figured out. He was the person people called when something needed fixing, when a project needed another pair of hands, or when there was a problem they couldn't solve. He showed his love through action.

Jeremy’s greatest legacy will not be the buildings he helped construct, the machines he repaired, or the many jobs he performed throughout his life. His greatest legacy will be the people he loved, the youth he encouraged, the family he devoted himself to, and the countless people who were better because Jeremy chose to help them.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Christie; his three daughters, Isabella, Emilia and Tessah, his parents, Charles and Jane, and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Jeremy will be profoundly missed. His family will miss his laughter, his optimism, his willingness to help, his ability to fix anything, and most of all, his presence. His daughters will miss their dad, their teacher, their helper, and their biggest supporter. Christie will miss her husband and best friend.

Although their hearts are broken by Jeremy’s absence, his family finds comfort in the knowledge that this separation is not forever. Because of their faith in Jesus Christ and the covenants they made as a family, they are sealed together for time and all eternity and look forward to the day when they will be reunited with him again. Jeremy lived his faith with strength, not only through his words, but through the way he served, loved, and cared for others. His testimony of Jesus Christ was evident in the life he lived. His love for his Savior, his devotion to his family, and his commitment to serving others will continue through the lives of all those he touched.

Jeremy spent his life helping others, building people up, and reminding those around him that "when someone needs help, we help!"
