Jo Marie (Bostwick) Oliver was born August 27, 1937 in Nogales, Arizona to Hoval Arthur Bostwick and Idella Elizabeth Caldwell as the first of six children. Her siblings are Jim, Alice, Helen, Frances, and Betty.
In 1955, Jo dropped out of high school her senior year to marry Andy Hughes. They had five children: Stan, Jack, Susette, Angel, and Nephele.
In 1967 missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints left a Book of Mormon with the family. When Jo saw it, it was as if a light was shining on it, and when she read the front page she said, “This is what I’ve been waiting for.” She and her family were baptized that fall.
After Jo and Andy divorced in 1969, Jo married Alan Wyatt Oliver, who was also in the Air Force. They had two children: Galan and Lockey. In December of 1975, Wyatt and Jo were sealed in the Oakland Temple.
In 1982, Wyatt retired and the family moved to Nevada. Her beloved husband passed away July 10, 2006 from pancreatic cancer.
Jo Marie Oliver passed away July 2, 2020 in Sacramento, California at the age of 82.
