Joseph "Joe" Aloysis Coan (34) unexpectedly died in his sleep at home in North Highlands, CA on October 15, 2020. Joe was born October 26, 1985 in Omaha Nebraska. He is survived by his father Gary Coan, sister Christy Lynn Coan, half brother Michael "Mike" Souders, step mother Dalene (Hart) Coan. Joe was preceded in death by his mother Betty Jean Nelson.
Joe had fond memories of early childhood in Nebraska and is a die hard Nebraska Huskers fan. His father brought him and his sister out west in the late 90s where he went to junior high and high school in Chico, California. Joe loved sports and if he wasn’t talking Huskers it was Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. In 2006 Joe enlisted in the Navy, he served on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier out of Everett, Washington, including a seven month deployment in the Persian Gulf and served his second tour at the Naval Air Station, Key West, Florida. Joe loved all the travel and adventures of his eight years in the Navy and the great friendships he has gained over the years with his fellow sailors. We are proud of Joe for his service in the Navy.
He bought a home in North Highlands which he shared with his little sister, Christy and his beloved German Shepherd, Jaxson. Everyone who ever knew Joe loved his smile, and witnessed his kind and generous spirit, and his passion for sports. He will be greatly missed but we hold onto the promise that he is at peace and we will be with him again.
